Wholesale ADA signage

Made like the earth: heat and pressure.

Our signs are created like the earth, using heat and pressure. Compression molding thermoforms acrylic into a homogeneous, one-piece sign face, with raised tactile text and domed Grade 2 braille formed in the material.

Made in America. Ships to all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Lifetime warranty on the compression molded face

Studio arrangement of finished thermoformed signs in several colors, with raised letters and braille, on a plain background.

One piece

Raised text and braille are formed in the acrylic, not stuck on.

Grade 2 braille

Domed, hemispherical dots. Contracted braille, formed with the letters.

Interior and exterior

The molded acrylic face is rated for both. No laminated layer to fail.

Wholesale

Built for sign companies, and for the designers who specify the process.

Why one piece

Short of a hammer and chisel, the text and braille can’t be removed from our signs.

Photopolymer, appliqué, and applied raster braille put the letters or the dots on a separate layer. That layer can peel, pop off, or delaminate. Thermoforming does not add a layer. The face is the letter.

How photopolymer, appliqué, and raster braille can fail, compared with a thermoformed one-piece face. No manufacturers are named.
MethodWhat it isWhat can happen
PhotopolymerA light-cured resin forms the letters and braille, then that layer is bonded to a separate backer. The bond can let go. Letters and dots can peel or delaminate.
AppliquéSeparate letters are cut and applied to a face.Adhesive can release. Letters can peel off.
Raster brailleHoles are drilled and individual braille beads are pressed in.Beads can pop out from impact, cleaning, or temperature change.
ThermoformedThe acrylic itself is formed with heat and pressure. The text and braille are the sign. Removing them means removing the acrylic.

Scroll the table sideways on a small screen. Read how the press works.

The heated press used to compression-mold an acrylic sign face.

Heat, then pressure.

The acrylic is heated and pressed so the letters and the braille are the face. Nothing is glued on afterward.

Shop-drawing style cross section of a thermoformed sign. Heat and pressure form one acrylic face. The raised character and the domed braille dots are part of that face, not pieces applied to it. The drawing is not to scale; the raised height is shown larger so the profile is readable. The minimum rise called out is one thirty-second of an inch.

“Throw one in a pool, come back a month later, and the worst that will happen is a wet sign.”

Interior and exterior rated. The color and the copy are not a film waiting to lift. Thermoformed Signs has made this face for professional sports arenas, semi-pro and college venues, hospitality, healthcare, multifamily housing, retirement communities, government, and schools.

Two ways people buy this.

For sign shops

Full-service shops make channel letters and monuments in house and send the interior ADA package out. That is the wholesale work. Or buy unfinished blanks — clear, white, or black — and keep the finishing margin.

For architects and designers

Architects, interior designers, and SEGD wayfinding designers specify the process when the sign has to stay readable for the life of the fit-out. The face is one material, interior and exterior.

Section 10 14 00 is issued as a guide specification, with material data and the dimensional ADA reference beside it.
